  • Congratulations on your new Ideal vinyl windows and doors. You now have beautiful windows that keep their appearance for many years to come. How? It's simple. Vinyl is not only a great insulator but will not pit, peel, chip or rot over time and never needs painting. Vinyl offers easy care and maintenance, so with simple care and cleaning, your windows look new for years.

Just like any surface that is exposed to the elements, your windows and doors will get dirty over time. Sometimes heavy rains will wash away dirt from vinyl very easy, but if the rain doesn't do the job, you can restore the clean look of your windows and doors by following some easy instructions.

You can wash your windows with a soft cloth or an ordinary long-handled soft bristle brush and if necessary use a mild detergent. Never use a high pressure spray to wash windows or doors. The intense pressure may crack or ruin the caulking around the window or door. In some difficult cases, you may use a mild abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub®, but the use of any abrasive material could scratch the surface of the glass or even the window and door frame.

Hint: To help you identify your new Ideal Windows, a small label can be found on the frame of the window, above the top sash of a double hung window.

    OPERATION

In addition to being virtually maintenance free, your new windows and doors have been designed to be easy to operate as well. For easy cleaning, all Double Hung sashes tilt-in, operating Slider sashes lift out, operating Casement sash will open easily by turning the crank handle and all Patio Doors feature tandem rollers, which allow the panels to operate smoothly.

OperationTo tilt in the sashes for the Double Hung, you must first unlock the window, raise the bottom sash about 4 inches above the sill. Next, slide the tilt latches toward the cam lock and gently tilt in the sash. Be sure to support the tilted sash while cleaning. The top sash can then be lowered and tilted inward as well. When finished, tilt the sashes back up and snap the tilt latches into place. Check to verify the tilt latches are properly fitted into the frame before operating the window. Caution should be used when tilting the sash inward. When the sashes are tilted and held at 90 or perpendicular to the wall, sashes can easily be removed from the brake shoe.

To remove operating Slider sashes, unlock the window and slide the inner sash toward the center of the unit. Lift the inside sash up into the top of the frame and pull the bottom of the sash toward you. When finished, reverse the process to reinstall the sashes.
To operate Casements, lift the lock handle on the side of the frame to unlock. Turn the crank handle on the bottom of the frame to open the sash to the desired position. To lock casements, turn the crank handle in the opposite direction to close the sash. Make sure the sash is fully closed, then lower the lock handle on the side of the frame.
